Are you going to preach to me?
Only when necessary…only kidding. I am not a preacher, however when necessary for me to speak I will reference biblical principles, themes and yes at times verses. I think you will find it helpful to your unique situation.
Will you browbeat me with the Bible?
I wouldn’t exactly call exploring insightful verses that you may or may not have read/heard of browbeating. You would be surprised to find that many of the answers/skills can be found in the Bible.
Are you Christian and can I still make an appointment if I am a different faith?
Yes I am Christian. I have 4 years in youth and families ministry. I am married, 21 years this year, with two teen daughters. While I have a strong faith I am aware that it is not the religion that matters, it is the individual relationship with God and that looks different for everyone. I value that and assist in strengthening this with clients while they build/strengthen skills to overcome challenges.
If I don’t believe in God or have no faith background, can I still make an appointment?
Yes, you are welcome to seek counseling. While Shamah Shalom’s approach is rooted in faith-based principles, we respect and support all individuals regardless of their spiritual background.
